Quick and accurate quantity take-off from 2D plans and 3D models
Quantity take-off is the foundation of a successful construction project. Quantity information is utilised in all phases of the project, be it cost estimation, scheduling, procurement or budget control.
Admicom Quantima Standard provides tools for 2D Quantity take-off to make it quick and accurate. Admicom Quantima Pro will additionally implement AI-assisted take-off. It will be on the market during Q1/2026.
We are also developing Admicom Quantima Premium which will provide the tools for model based quantity take-off, further strengthening the toolkit for estimators and quantity surveyors alike!

Admicom Quantima will support 70 different formats such as PDF, IFC, RVT and others. At the moment, Admicom Quantima Standard supports PDF.

What is quantity surveying?
Quantity surveying is the systematic calculation of materials, work quantities and resources for a construction project based on drawings and plans. The result is a bill of quantities, which serves as the basis for cost estimation and tender calculation.
How is quantity surveying done with software?
Quantity surveying with software works like this:
1. Upload the drawings — import PDF floor plans directly into the software, no printing or copying needed.
2. Object recognition finds the items — automatic recognition speeds up measurement and helps you get an overview of the project.
3. Measure the quantities — calculate lengths, areas, unit counts and volumes directly from the drawing. All markings are saved and traceable.
4. Export the bill of quantities to tender calculation — transfer the completed calculation to cost and tender calculation.
How does quantity surveying software differ from Excel?
The key difference is where the quantities come from. In Excel, figures are entered manually — someone measures from a drawing and transfers the number to a spreadsheet. In quantity surveying software, measurement happens directly from the PDF drawing in the software, eliminating the manual intermediate step entirely.
What is the difference between quantity surveying and cost estimation?
Quantity surveying determines what is needed: material quantities, work quantities and resources measured from drawings. The result is a bill of quantities.
Cost estimation determines what it costs: quantities are multiplied by unit prices, resulting in a cost estimate and tender.
The two go hand in hand — accurate quantity surveying is a prerequisite for reliable cost estimation. Quantities calculated in Admicom Quantima can be transferred to Admicom Estima for cost estimation.
What file formats does Admicom Quantima support?
Quantima Standard currently supports PDF files — you can calculate quantities directly from PDF drawings and floor plans.
Upcoming versions will add support for DWG files (Pro, Q3/2026) and IFC and RVT files through 3D modelling (Premium, H2/2026). In total, Quantima will support over 70 different file formats.
Does Admicom Quantima use AI?
Quantima Standard already includes automatic object recognition, which speeds up measurement by identifying items from the drawing. This is available immediately.
How quickly can I start using Quantima?
Quantima is browser-based — no installations, no IT project, no waiting. Open your browser, log in and start calculating. Your first drawing can be done on the same day.
Because the software runs in a browser, it works on any device such as desktop, tablet or site laptop. Updates are applied automatically with no separate installation needed.
Can multiple people calculate the same project at the same time?
Yes. Because Quantima is browser-based, multiple users can work on the same project simultaneously and all changes are visible in real time. User rights are easy to manage without IT support.
