Jatke relies on Admicom Estima construction cost estimation software

Founded in 2009, Jatke is a privately owned Finnish construction group. The company builds and renovates homes and workplaces in the Helsinki metropolitan area as well as in Tampere and Turku. Jatke employs around 380 construction professionals, with a turnover of €339 million in 2021. Its vision is to become the most recognised and respected Finnish construction company of the 2020s.

Pasi Kuusisto works as Head of Estimation at Jatke Pirkanmaa, Jatke Group’s regional company in Tampere.

“In January 2023 I marked four years at Jatke Pirkanmaa – I have been here almost from the start. Today, there are two of us in estimation, handling all types of cost estimation in the construction business. Jatke mainly builds commercial properties and residential housing, along with some industrial and sports facilities. Our customers range from the public sector to private clients.”

Jatke Pirkanmaa acts as the main contractor in construction projects.

“In practice, we work as project management contractors. We do employ a few of our own tradespeople, but around 80–90% of the work is outsourced to subcontractors.”

Back in the day, I used an installed desktop program – it was more like Excel. Estima, on the other hand, is browser-based and allows multiple users to work simultaneously. You really cannot compare the two. I have liked Estima from the start – otherwise I would not still be using it.”

Linking estimation to project planning with Estima

At Jatke Pirkanmaa, Estima is also used in setting project targets through its Project planning module. This connects cost estimation with production planning, making it possible to create an initial schedule, target budget and procurement breakdown for each project.

“We don’t use the software only for cost estimation, but also to define project targets within Project planning. The module provides target setting and scheduling tools. The figures come from Estima and are then transferred to financial management.”

Reliability and data security with Estima construction cost estimation

Years of using Estima have convinced Kuusisto of its reliability and stability. Estimation work has run smoothly throughout.

“Having used it for such a long time, I can say it has worked very well. Issues or interruptions have been extremely rare, and that has been its best feature over the years – it simply runs without problems.”

Estima also ensures that project data is stored safely, without relying on spreadsheets or local files. All information is available in real time to the whole project team.

“The database is secure within the software and will remain so – more reliably than, say, Excel. In addition, the multi-user features and resource libraries bring extra value that is well worth making use of.”
